Managing Director, EAA - Environment Agency Austria
Mr. Rebernig holds a Master’s degree in Business Economics and
International Trade from the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
During his studies, Mr. Rebernig specialized in international tax consulting
and financial auditing. Soon after his graduation in 1989, he joined the
Austrian Ministry for Environment as Deputy Head
of Unit for Environmental Economics and Energy. In 1984 he became Environment Attaché at the Austrian Permanent
Representation at the European Union in Brussels. During the Austrian
Presidency of the EU Council in 1998, he acted as Chairman of the Environment
Working Party of the Council.
Since 1999, Mr. Rebernig is Managing Director at
Umweltbundesamt (Environment Agency Austria), Austria’s largest organisation of
experts on all environmental issues. With more than 450 experts in 55 academic
disciplines, Umweltbundesamt focuses on interdisciplinary work in all
environmental disciplines and also examines plausible future pathways of
combined social and environmental systems. On international level the
Environment Agency Austria is sought-after partner for environmental expertise
and environmental technology. The Agncie’s experts are active in more than 200
networks and bodies. It advises, among others, the European Parliament and the
EU Commission.
