Head of Industry Advocacy & Environmental Policy, BASF SE, Germany
Klaus is the Head of
Industry Advocacy and Environmental Policy within the BASF Group. Based on their
long expertise in environmental issues management, he and his team work on standards,
legislation and ecolabels; they help to position BASF on resource efficiency,
air, water, and chemicals’ policies and with their networks, they help to
protect competitiveness of BASF production and products.
He represents BASF in
several groups within the European (Plastics) Industry and is chairing some
environmental groups in several trade associations as PlasticsEurope, PlasticsEurope
Germany, BKV, VCI (Federation of the German Chemical Industry) and BDI
(Federation of German Industry).
In 1996 Klaus joined BASF
as a process development engineer in the field of plastics production. In 2001 he
worked as the BASF plastics recycling and sustainability expert. 2007 he became
Team Leader Plastics and the Environment and in 2012 he was appointed as Head
of the Plastics Affairs Group. Since 2014, Klaus has been the Head of Industry
Advocacy and Environmental Policy.
Klaus Wittstock studied
chemical engineering in Karlruhe, Germany, and obtained his PhD in 1996.
